This week Google announced their FriendConnect feature which allows websites to use Google’s authentication and friend information in their sites. Qloud has been an early partner with Google on this initiative and worked with them to build that into Qloud.com. Any user can sign in to Qloud.com using their Google account and we pull their friends from that service too.

You can learn more information about Google Friend connect at Google.com/friendconnect and on that page you’ll see Qloud is listed as one of the example sites.

Here’s our Press Release on our Bebo launch.

Sure, read the release. But most importantly, go have fun with the app!

Qloud Delivers My Music to Bebo Media Network

Deployment of music discovery service introduces unlimited music and social discovery to 40 million users on the Bebo media network.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) December 12, 2007 — Qloud, a social music service that allows users to listen to music inside of social networks, today announced that it has launched its My Music application on Bebo’s social media network.

The Qloud My Music application is a revolutionary music service that delivers online music to users how they want it - unlimited, on-demand and linked to their personal music libraries - and where they want it - inside social networks where they can share music with and discover it through their friends. By supporting Bebo’s Open Application Developer Platform, Qloud will now deliver the My Music experience to Bebo’s well-established international user base of 40 million.

“Qloud’s My Music application is proving that unlimited, on-demand content is the music experience that consumers want on social networks,” said Mike Lewis, co-founder of Qloud. “Bebo’s platform has made it easy for us to develop a rich and social music experience inside of their network, and we’re excited to leverage this platform to bring My Music to Bebo’s 40 million users.”

By simply installing the My Music Bebo application, users can immediately see and legally play entire songs and videos from their complete iTunes libraries inside of Bebo. My Music also allows users to see and play online the iTunes libraries of their friends, view and exchange playlists with their friends, browse and play the most popular songs among their friends and social groups, and add their friends’ songs to their own online libraries.

“We’ve had great traction with the My Music application. More than two million registered users are demonstrating how My Music has created a unique and powerful music experience for social networks,” added Lewis. “We look forward to bringing our My Music application to Bebo’s users and to monitoring the response it generates in markets like the U.K. and Ireland where the network has a strong presence.”

We were excited to be invited early on into Google’s OpenSocial effort. It has been great working with them and getting to know them over the last two months. Our Orkut app is fantastic and will be open to users as soon as the Orkut platform is. Y’all should look forward to it.

I spent last week out in California at Google and then the Campfire One event. OpenSocial is going to be great for the Internet and for us. We’re so excited about it that, now that everything is public, we had to do a press release. See below.

Social Music Service Qloud to Support New OpenSocial APIs

Common APIs for Building Social Applications on the Web, Launched by Google, to help Support the Widespread Adoption of the Qloud My Music Experience on New Platforms

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 5, 2007 – Qloud, backed by Steve Case and a “supergroup” of Internet and music luminaries, today announced that it is fully embracing the new OpenSocial APIs launched by Google as a fundamental step toward quickly and easily making the web more social.

The Qloud My Music application is a revolutionary music service that delivers online music to users how they want it – legal, cost-free, on-demand and linked to their personal music libraries – and where they want it – inside social networks where they can share music with and discover it through their friends. By supporting OpenSocial, Qloud will dramatically expand its availability on social platforms and accelerate adoption of its popular music service.

Qloud is one of the first companies to participate in the OpenSocial initiative. Its feedback and development efforts helped craft the OpenSocial API. Qloud My Music’s application is now running in the developer sandbox provided on Orkut.

“The OpenSocial programming model developed by Google is a breakthrough step toward maximizing the social potential of the web,” said Mike Lewis, co-founder of Qloud. “OpenSocial is providing a fast and efficient way for Qloud and other innovators to deliver compelling social applications.”

OpenSocial is a set of common APIs, launched today by Google, for building social applications on the web. Common APIs mean that developers only have to learn once in order to start building social applications for multiple websites, and any website will be able to implement OpenSocial and host social applications. OpenSocial will bring more powerful and pervasive social capabilities to the web because developers will be able to develop and distribute their applications more easily. Users will be able to enjoy new social features faster and in more of the websites, web applications, and social networks they use. More information is available at code.google.com.

Here’s our press release on it and announcing our investors and directors:

STEVE CASE AND MUSIC LUMINARIES JOIN TO CREATE
ONLINE MUSIC SERVICE QLOUD

Qloud debuts free, on-demand streaming music service –
iTunes playlists now accessible anytime, anywhere, to anyone from any computer

Company’s My Music application built on Facebook® Platform reaches 1 million registered users – making it more popular on Facebook than Last.fm, Pandora and Imeem combined
“Supergroup” of investors and board members includes Case and former Yahoo!, Island Records, Warner Music Group, EMI Music, and AOL executives

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 1, 2007 – Steve Case’s Revolution LLC today announced that it has formally launched a new online music service – Qloud (pronounced “cloud”). With 1 million registered users and 120 million recorded plays in less than three months, Qloud’s My Music application built on Facebook® Platform is already the second-largest music application on the social utility.

Case is joined by a number of online and music industry luminaries as investors and board members in Qloud, including the founder of Island Records, Chris Blackwell, who discovered U2 and Bob Marley and was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; the founder of Launch Music, Dave Goldberg, who most recently headed Yahoo! Music; the former head of AOL’s online music properties, Jim Bankoff, who will now serve as Qloud’s chairman; Ted Leonsis, Vice Chairman Emeritus of AOL and Chairman of Revolution Money; and music industry executives Paul Vidich, formerly EVP Strategy and Business Development of Warner Music; and Tom Ryan, formerly Global SVP of Digital and Mobile Strategy of EMI Music. Qloud was co-founded by former AOLers Toby Murdock and Mike Lewis.

The Qloud My Music application is a revolutionary music service that delivers online music to users how they want it – legal, cost-free, DRM-free, on-demand and linked to their personal music libraries – and where they want it – inside social networks where they can share music with and discover it through their friends.

For example, by simply installing the My Music Facebook application users immediately can see and legally play entire songs and videos from their complete iTunes libraries inside of Facebook for free. My Music also allows users to see and play online the iTunes libraries of their friends, view and exchange playlists with their friends, browse and play the most popular songs among their friends and social groups, and add their friends’ songs to their own online libraries.

“Although there are hundreds of music sites, Qloud provides consumers with unparalleled choice, control and convenience,” said Steve Case, chairman and CEO of Revolution LLC. “Qloud enables people to conveniently listen to the music they love while also helping them discover new music through their friends. We’re delighted to be partnering with a ‘supergroup’ of legends from the music and Internet industries to take music – and social networks – to a whole new level.”

Qloud’s service features an online jukebox with unlimited, streaming music and videos played on-demand. Qloud delivers this new and exciting music experience by embedding content from licensed providers, such as YouTube, Revver and Brightcove, and then making this content available to consumers in easy to navigate locations. Qloud also features deep social networking tools and a powerful, community-based music discovery system driven by the Qloud iTunes plug-in. This plug-in recreates a user’s iTunes library in a browser and enables users to explore the iTunes libraries of other Qloud users.

“It is clear that Qloud’s My Music has already struck a chord with consumers,” said Jim Bankoff, chairman of Qloud and former EVP of AOL. “It is striking to see that My Music is now more popular than Last.fm, Pandora and Imeem combined on Facebook - especially since these music brands have been around for years and My Music became available just three months ago.”

In addition to availability on Facebook and syncing with iTunes, Qloud expects to soon announce integration with other social networks and syncing with additional media software.

“Free, on-demand content via an all-in-one interface and without the DRM hassles associated with downloads is the music experience that consumers want,” said Toby Murdock, co-founder of Qloud. “Combined with our music discovery tools, community of music lovers and the ability to take your music with you to other social platforms, Qloud is revitalizing the online music experience for consumers.”
