Qloud.com and Google Friend Connect
December 6, 2008 on 5:36 pm | Posted by louie | In industry, press release, qloud.com, service | No CommentsThis week Google announced their FriendConnect feature which allows websites to use Google’s authentication and friend information in their sites. Qloud has been an early partner with Google on this initiative and worked with them to build that into Qloud.com. Any user can sign in to Qloud.com using their Google account and we pull their friends from that service too.
You can learn more information about Google Friend connect at Google.com/friendconnect and on that page you’ll see Qloud is listed as one of the example sites.

Qloud now on Hi5
December 24, 2007 on 1:55 pm | Posted by louie | In hi5, platform, service | 1 CommentWe’re very happy to announce that we’re live on Hi5 networ. For those of you who don’t know, Hi5 is a social network that has over 70 million users. Similar to Facebook and Bebo, they have opened up their site to allow applications to integrate into it. We are happy to be one of the first two to be on this platform.
An interesting difference about Hi5’s platform is that it supports Google’s OpenSocial API. All our profile boxes and canvas pages are built using the Widget API. It’s great to see that the Social has begun and to be part of it.
Our application inside Hi5 initially is just the Library view, search functionality, and Favorites. Favorites is one of our newer features that allow users to select which artist and tracks are their fav’s and place those on their profile. Over the next couple weeks, we’ll be adding more and more features to the service to make it more fun to use and easier to share with others. Stay tuned.
As always, send us comments to feedback@qloud - we’d love to hear what you think of the application

MyMusic Now Has Playlists
September 28, 2007 on 12:09 pm | Posted by louie | In facebook, features, service | No Comments
Listening to individual songs is great. But what’s even better is listening to a list of songs. We’ve always synched your iTunes playlists with the website, but now you can do even more. You can create new playlists, edit playlists that have been synched, add pictures, change names, and more.
It’s a great way to share songs too. Just make a playlist, give it a name and share it on your profile.
Check out the new feature by clicking HERE

New Databases and Qloud.com is Buggy
August 9, 2007 on 4:47 pm | Posted by louie | In service, update | No CommentsWe are currently doing some radical changes to our database system. As a result, the Qloud.com site is buggy and certain parts are just not working at all. All changes should be resolved soon.
Also, you may at certain times see that your plays are not synching exactly with what you’re playing. This is also due to the new database system.
We apologize for this and are working hard to bring the site back to normal
Find Others in Qloud
June 22, 2007 on 11:29 am | Posted by louie | In features, service, update | No CommentsWe did a small update today to the site to allow you to more easily find other users in Qloud. You can now find users on qloud that are the same age, live in the same area, or listen to the same music as you. To do this, all you need to do is click the “Find Others” button at the bottom left of the Qloud page (or click here)
Also with this feature, you can open up collective libraries of users. For example, i could open up a library of all women ages 20-30 who live in New York. I can then sort it to see what the most popular songs are for them in the past month. It’s quite interesting to see what people listen to in different areas. Check it out for yourself…
Qloud’s Got New User Inteface and More!
December 4, 2006 on 1:17 pm | Posted by louie | In service, update | No CommentsWe’ve heard you. We showed up and a number of folks mentioned that we could improve our look. So, we ran home, put on a new outfit and headed back to the party. Hope you like this one better.
If you take a look at the site you see some very noticeable changes. In particular:
- We’ve toned down the colors and graphics. We had a little too much going on before, and we’ve tried to make things simpler.
- The tabs are now below the search box. Before, if you searched on The Kooks you’d see their tracks and then to see the users who are listening to them, you’d have to go back to the top and select users under the people tab. Now, you can jump from tab to tab and see tracks by The Kooks, then users who listen, then other artists, then Channels that have The Kooks in them, and then Tags by them. All in all, this should be more intuitive.
There are now “new” and “refine” radio buttons under the search box. Every search is defaulted to begin a new search unless you select “refine” or if you choose something from the dropdown area on the left.
When typing an entry in the search box and we’re crawling through our database, there is now a “loading” message so you know we’re working on finding your query. Previously, it would just wait until there was a response which was confusing.- There’s a new and cleaner interface for points page, registration page, download page, and invite page. Granted, this blog UI is still stuck with the old UI, but that’s on the books to be updated soon.
We did more than just update the old UI, we also added some new stuff, such as:
- It is now really easy for you to invite users from Facebook, MySpace, or from you mail address book (Gmail, MSN, or Yahoo). All you need to do is provide your credentials and we’ll get the email address and you can fire off invites to your buddies, pals, peeps or whoever. Click on the “invite” link or go here: www.qloud.com/invite
When you’re looking at the tags on tracks or albums, we now have a cool Tag Photo Viewer which allows you to cruise through all the tags listed on the list. These flickr images are always fascinating and often hysterical to look at. For instance, check out the tags on Jack Johnson, Bob Dylan or Citizen Cope.- For any track you find on our service, you can now watch the video of it. We’ve worked hard on matching our tracks with the appropriate YouTube video. If there isn’t one, you can provide it. Check it out and let us know what you think.
As always, thanks for your feedback and let us know what you like and dislike about our new latest release.
