Qloud’s Plug-ins

plug-in harmony

As some of you may know, we’ve had some issues with our plug-ins. Early users of Qloud will remember a tag browser that was part of the iTunes Visualizer. This allowed users to tag tracks in their library and even sort their music and create playlists based on those tags. Unfortunately we found the iTunes Visualizer environment to be unstable for this type of functionality. So we scaled back quite a bit, completely ditching the visualizer and tag browser. Now, visually the plug-in runs in your system tray or menu bar, and we’ve streamlined a lot of our processes to make it more lightweight. These plug-ins were released in January.

Since then we’ve been improving our “historical upload” process, song recognition, and user recognition. We’ve also improved our error reporting a great deal which has allowed us to make several bug fixes (so if you are a user out there still experiencing crashes and aren’t submitting the error reports, SUBMIT THEM).

As always if you have any comments or questions about the plug-in, please shoot an email to feedback@qloud.com.

What’s your theme song?

February 1, 2008 on 4:51 pm | Posted by louie | In facebook, releases | No Comments

Do you have a theme song? Do you identify closely with Ice Cube or Whitesnake? Does the song “Shake Your Booty” perfectly describe your moves on the dancefloor? Now you can let the world know. And, if you happen to know a great theme song for your friend, you can assign one to them too. Our new What My Theme Song? application has all of this built in and more.

It’s easy to assign any friend a song. Once you do, they’ll be able to listen to the song and send some to their friends. Check it out here

Concerts are here

January 29, 2008 on 3:45 pm | Posted by louie | In facebook, features | No Comments

A commonly requested feature for our application is concerts. People want to know when an artist is touring and when a show is in their neighborhood. We took a big step in delivering this to them today with our first release of concerts. To see what we’ve done, visit any Artist page (such as the Plain White T’s) of an artist on tour and we’ll display where their next 3 shows are. You can click to “see all” to see all of their shows, and clicking “Find Tickets” will take you to a page to purchase the tickets.

This is only on Facebook now and is just the first step in our concert integration. Let us know what you think.

Qloud now on Hi5

December 24, 2007 on 1:55 pm | Posted by louie | In hi5, platform, service | No Comments

We’re very happy to announce that we’re live on Hi5 networ. For those of you who don’t know, Hi5 is a social network that has over 70 million users. Similar to Facebook and Bebo, they have opened up their site to allow applications to integrate into it. We are happy to be one of the first two to be on this platform.

An interesting difference about Hi5’s platform is that it supports Google’s OpenSocial API. All our profile boxes and canvas pages are built using the Widget API. It’s great to see that the Social has begun and to be part of it.

Our application inside Hi5 initially is just the Library view, search functionality, and Favorites. Favorites is one of our newer features that allow users to select which artist and tracks are their fav’s and place those on their profile. Over the next couple weeks, we’ll be adding more and more features to the service to make it more fun to use and easier to share with others. Stay tuned.

As always, send us comments to feedback@qloud - we’d love to hear what you think of the application

Qloud Delivers My Music to Bebo Media Network

Deployment of music discovery service introduces unlimited music and social discovery to 40 million users on the Bebo media network.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) December 12, 2007 — Qloud, a social music service that allows users to listen to music inside of social networks, today announced that it has launched its My Music application on Bebo’s social media network.

The Qloud My Music application is a revolutionary music service that delivers online music to users how they want it - unlimited, on-demand and linked to their personal music libraries - and where they want it - inside social networks where they can share music with and discover it through their friends. By supporting Bebo’s Open Application Developer Platform, Qloud will now deliver the My Music experience to Bebo’s well-established international user base of 40 million.

“Qloud’s My Music application is proving that unlimited, on-demand content is the music experience that consumers want on social networks,” said Mike Lewis, co-founder of Qloud. “Bebo’s platform has made it easy for us to develop a rich and social music experience inside of their network, and we’re excited to leverage this platform to bring My Music to Bebo’s 40 million users.”

By simply installing the My Music Bebo application, users can immediately see and legally play entire songs and videos from their complete iTunes libraries inside of Bebo. My Music also allows users to see and play online the iTunes libraries of their friends, view and exchange playlists with their friends, browse and play the most popular songs among their friends and social groups, and add their friends’ songs to their own online libraries.

“We’ve had great traction with the My Music application. More than two million registered users are demonstrating how My Music has created a unique and powerful music experience for social networks,” added Lewis. “We look forward to bringing our My Music application to Bebo’s users and to monitoring the response it generates in markets like the U.K. and Ireland where the network has a strong presence.”
